城市變了，人的日子也變了。貓剛好是一種可以住在高樓裡、又保留自己主意的動物。 Cities changed, and so did the shape of a day. A cat can live in a tower and still keep a private mind.

01單位小，窗口卻夠暖Small flats, warm windows

香港很多家沒有每天遛狗的餘地。貓用垂直的空間生活：窗台、櫃頂、一棵穩的貓樹。牠們仍然需要遊戲和陪伴，只是散步換成了另一種豐富。Many Hong Kong homes have no room for a daily dog walk. Cats use height: a sill, a cupboard, a steady tree. They still need play and company. The walk simply changes shape.

02回家有人在Someone is in when you return

工時長、一人單位多。貓不會回訊息，可是門一開，常常有一隻從房間走出來。這個『有東西在等』很具體。Long hours, many one-person flats. A cat will not text back. The door opens, and someone often walks out of a room. Being waited for is concrete.

03牠是自己走過來的They walk over by choice

貓保留說不的權利。所以當牠跳上你的膝，那份靠近是牠選的。很多人愛的就是這個。A cat keeps the right to say no. When they step into your lap, the closeness was chosen. That is the part many people love.

04在家工作以後After work moved home

鏡頭角落常有一條尾巴。貓把很長的工作切成幾段，強迫你起來倒水。這種打斷又煩又有用。A tail crosses the corner of the camera. The cat slices a long work day into pieces and makes you stand up for water. The interruption is annoying and useful.

05性格終於被看見The personalities became visible

照片和短片讓人看見貓不是一種動物的複製品。圓臉、豹紋、大耳朵、唐貓的王字額，每一種都有自己的觀眾。Photos and short films showed that cats are not copies of one animal. Round faces, spotted coats, big ears, the 王 on a tabby forehead: each finds an audience.

寵物店的榜單很亮。與此同時，更多人從協會和貓義工那裡把唐貓帶回家。兩件事同時在香港發生。Shop charts stay bright. At the same time, more people bring a domestic cat home from a society or a rescue. Both are happening in Hong Kong.

很多人把這種感覺叫治癒。它很實在：呼吸、節奏、每天被需要。選一種日子，看這份陪伴長什麼樣。People call the feeling healing. The real parts are breath, rhythm, and being needed today. Pick a kind of day.

有些人在撫摸自己的貓之後，肩膀會鬆下來。呼噜聲低而穩，像一個近距離的節拍。這是安慰。情緒若已經蓋過生活，人也需要人：朋友、輔導、醫生。貓可以坐在腿上，陪你去找那些幫助。 Some people feel their shoulders drop after stroking their own cat. A purr is low and steady, a rhythm at close range. That is comfort. When a low mood runs the whole day, people also need people: a friend, a counsellor, a doctor. The cat can sit in your lap on the way there.

『最受歡迎』有兩份名單。一份是家裡真正的數量，一份是寵物店和相冊裡的人氣。兩份都值得看。“Most popular” is two lists. One is the number of cats actually at home. The other is the shop window and the photo album. Both are worth reading.

唐貓、家貓Domestic cats

領養、親友送養、街坊貓的後代。顏色和性格都不統一，數量卻最大。想養貓，從香港愛護動物協會 SPCA 和可靠的貓義工開始，往往會遇見最合適的那一隻。Adoptions, cats from friends, the descendants of neighbourhood cats. Colours and temperaments do not match. The number is the largest. The SPCA and careful rescue groups are a strong place to start.

英國短毛，尤其是藍貓和金漸層British Shorthairs, especially blue and golden

圓臉厚毛，性格穩，適合日間要上班的人。金漸層是毛色，不是另一個物種。銀漸層、藍白也很常見。Round, dense, and steady. A fair match for people who go to work. Golden is a colour, not another species. Silver shaded and blue-and-white are common too.

需要你時間的長毛：布偶、波斯、金吉拉Longhair that needs your time: Ragdoll, Persian, chinchilla

布偶黏人，波斯和金吉拉更安靜，梳子是每天的工具。異國短毛，也就是香港的加菲，把扁臉留在較短的毛上。Ragdolls stay close. Persians and chinchillas are quieter, and the brush is a daily tool. The Exotic, the local “Garfield”, keeps the flat face on a shorter coat.

高樓飼貓的第一件事是窗In a tower, the window comes first

穩固的窗網或窗花，比任何貓樹都優先。冷氣很強的家，無毛貓和幼貓需要毯子。夏天潮濕，長毛要徹底吹乾。出租單位先問清楚可不可以養寵物。Solid window mesh comes before any cat tree. In strong air-conditioning, a hairless cat and a kitten need a blanket. In humid summers, dry a long coat completely. If you rent, ask about pets before you fall in love with a face.

狗隻滿五個月要領牌、植晶片、打狂犬病疫苗。貓一般無須領牌。持牌動物售賣商出售的貓，則要植入晶片，並至少滿十週。自願給家裡的貓植晶片，走失時好找回來。政策會更新，重要決定請再核對漁農自然護理署。Dogs over five months need a licence, a microchip, and a rabies vaccine. Cats generally do not need a licence. Cats sold by a licensed animal trader must be microchipped and at least ten weeks old. A voluntary chip still helps if a cat slips out. Rules change. Check the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department before an important decision.

這是配對，不是命運。帶牠回家之前，仍然要見面、看健康、看牠喜不喜歡你。A match, not a fate. Before anyone comes home, meet them, ask about health, and see whether they like you.

帶貓回家之前Before a cat comes home

一隻貓常常會陪十多年。下面三張清單比任何品種介紹都優先。A cat often stays for more than a decade. These three lists come before any breed description.

領養Adopting
  • 先到 SPCA 或可靠的貓義工看過真實的貓Meet a real cat at the SPCA or a careful rescue
  • 問年齡、性格、是否已絕育和打疫苗Ask age, temperament, neuter status, and vaccines
  • 坐下來相處，看牠靠近還是躲避Sit together. Notice whether they approach or hide
  • 準備窗網、貓砂盆、隱藏處和第一週的安靜Prepare mesh, a litter box, a hiding place, and a quiet first week
如果是買If you buy
  • 請對方出示動物售賣商牌照，可向漁護署核對Ask to see the animal trader licence and check it with AFCD
  • 現場掃描晶片，紀錄要和貓對得上Scan the microchip on the spot. The papers should match the cat
  • 貓至少滿十週，願意給你看父母和生活環境At least ten weeks old, with parents and the living place available to see
  • 健康和性格比毛色價錢重要Health and temperament come before colour and price
